When you already own your own domain name but want to have it hosted on our servers, you can point your domain name to our servers. We have experience in handling website transfers, and will help to make the launch of your new web site as smooth and trouble free as possible. If you have not already done so, please signup for a new web hosting package.

After your new account is activated, and should then published your web content (Thru FTP), you will then be ready to begin the process to pointing your existing domain to our servers.

Please follow our step-by-step process below to re-point your domain name to our servers.

Step 1

Access your domain name Registrar's site so that you may begin the domain modification and transfer your hosting account to IRLhost.com.

Step 2

Your registrar will have a button or link off their main web page to their modification / maintenance site.

This button may be referred to as one of the following:

Make Changes
Manage Domain
Maintenance
Account Holder
Control Panel

Click on this modification link to be prompted for your username and password. Then, enter the username and password and click the submit button.

Note: Each registrar has its own username and password system. When you initially registered your domain name, you should have been issued with a username and password. Please contact your registrar directly if you cannot locate these details.

Step 3

Locate the section of your Registrar's modification / maintenance site that permits you to change your Name Servers (also referred to as 'DNS Servers' or 'Technical Details'). Then, access the change form in your browser.

Step 4

Enter the new name servers and IP addresses into the appropriate fields. When you open a hosting account you will be sent your new name server details.

NS1 Hostname: ns1.xxxxxx-xxxxxx.com
NS1 IP Address: xxx.xx.xxx.xx
NS2 Hostname: ns2. xxxxxx-xxxxxx.com
NS2 IP Address: xxx.xx.xxx.xx

and click the "Submit" or "Save Changes" button.

Step 5

Optional, depending on your Registrar:

Your registrar may require that you confirm the changes you have submitted via email, and will send you an email verification. The email may be addressed the administrative and/or technical contact for your domain.

Step 6

There will be a short delay, usually 24 to 72 hours, before the changes that you have requested are distributed 'live' throughout the domain name space.

Step 7

After the changes to your domain name are in place, please contact your previous hosting provider and inform them that you have changed your domain record. They will then remove or update your domain name on their servers.

Note: If you require additional help modifying your domain name, please contact your domain name registrar directly.

Step 8

Your domain name transfer should now be completed.
