How does the email system work ? Our email system is easy to use, easy to change and allows a whole range of different email setups. All email settings are controlled via your Cpanel control panel. The control panel enables you to change email passwords, forwarding options and other email settings whenever you like, as often as you like. Any changes made are immediately active. You can access your email 3 ways: Webmail Cpanel POP 3 WEBMAIL Using webmail you can access your email anytime, anywhere in the World by:- http://www.yourdomain.com/webmail/ Please remember the last "/" You will then have to enter your full email address (yourname@yourdoamin.com) and then your password. You can then send/receive email. CPanel Using Cpanel you can access your email and set up forwarders etc. Please review our cpanel section for full details. POP 3 You can if you wish set up full POP3 and STMP on your own computer. What are the email options and what do I need ? Our email settings can be split in four different categories. All our hosting plans have all four categories and you can use just one or any combination. In addition, you can add extra email facilities to any of the plans should you need them. The four categories are: default email forwarding (unlimited addresses) specific email forwarding default POP mailbox account configurable POP mailbox accounts Description of each email category: Default email forwarding (unlimited email forwarding) By default any email sent to your domain name will be sent to the 'default' email forwarding address. The default forwarding address will be the one you give us when we open your account but can be changed at any time by you. This default forwarding can be used to collect all addresses sent to your domain name. You do not have to specify these addresses - they automatically get forwarded on. In effect, this gives you unlimited email addresses. This default email forwarding can either be sent to a dialup POP account (C) or a POP account you setup with us (A) or any other email address. Specific email forwarding options In addition to the default forwarding option, you can set up specific addresses to be forwarded to other POP accounts that you specify (can be changed by you at any time). This can be illustrated by (B) above. For example, you may have setup a default forwarding to dialup provider POP account X, but wish sales@yourdomain.com and info@yourdomain.com to forward to dialup provider POP account Y. This would involve two email forwarding options. Any email not addressed to sales or info would go to the default forwarding address. Remember, any email settings can be changed by you at any time, as many times as you like. Default POP mailbox account POP accounts are simply email mailboxes that can be password protected. They act as message 'storage' points and hold mail until you collect it using your mail program (eg Outlook or Netscape). If you do not wish to have mail forwarded to your dialup account then you can collect your email from us. You can disable the default mail forwarding option and have all mail addressed to your domain placed into a default mailbox account. You will then need to configure your mail program to collect directly from us. This is easy to do and instructions can be found on this site for the popular mail programs. Configurable POP mailboxes In the same way as you can set up email forwarding options, you can also setup individually passworded mailboxes with us as well. You can change the passwords and the userid's of these mailboxes whenever and as often as you wish. Combination email configurations You can also setup various configurations of the above mail settings. For example, you can setup email forwarding of certain addresses to separate dialup accounts as well as forwarding other addresses to POP accounts with us. This gives the facility to allow users to collect multiple addresses from us, their dialup account or both. How do I decide what I need ? Many users don't use or need any of the configurable email settings. Simply collect your mail from your main POP account, this means you will never need to touch the email settings or configure any addresses. You can give out as many addresses as you like (sales@yourdom.com, yourname1@yourdom.com, yourname2@yourdom.com, e.t.c) and they will all arrive at your (default POP account). If you have more than one user, then you need to choose how many people will need their own mailboxes and whether you want the mail forwarded or you wish to collect from us. When you know what you want - choose the hosting plan that best suits your needs. Remember, you can tailor any plan by adding additional email facilities, but sometimes it is more economical to jump to the next plan.
